Sigute from Summer 2015

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

Cultural classes because when you can learn more about Japan. I also liked school trip, it was a chance to spend time with other students from the same program like me.

Why did you select this program?

I selected this program because it has summer semester, not only language class but also cultural class. Also, because school is international, that means you can meet people from all over the world, find new friends and learn something new.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The productive and interesting was classes. I learned not only about Japanese culture but also about Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese and Americans. It was interesting to communicate with different cultures and to learn something new. I am not sure what was the least interesting and productive because I was enjoying everything from the first till last day.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I think all materials which teachers were using helped us a lot. For example, games let us to memorize everything faster, tests checked what we learnt and what we should to study more, working in pair - let us to use more our Japanese, to speak more and ect.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

Culture course - let us to learn more about Japan, about the history, let to see something different and unique - for example Kabuki. Very nice class.

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

I didn't have any problem when I was living there. The manager was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to live alone (even I used to live with someone), to have my own room, bathroom and even small kitchen ( where I could cook or make coffee). The Ikebukuro dorm remind like a small apartment.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

Enjoy every moment in Japan. Don't be shy - teachers and other students are super friendly and helpful. It's your chance to learn not only about Japan but also about other cultures ( believe me you will find a lot of students from other countries). Good luck!

At first I thought KCP was too good to be true because I could not find a single negative review anywhere. Every comment I found was positive. Turns out there’s a very good reason for this 🙂
