I really got to see the background of Japan through their philosophy, history, and practices. It helps to learn Japanese when you understand the culture behind the language.

It was mentally refreshing to be around the beauty of nature.

Don’t have an attitude when coming to Japan. Be respectful of the cultural differences between you and peers as well as the Japanese natives.

They helped to get you out into Japan, as a facet beyond just that which you study in the classroom or in your room at home.

I liked all the extra small opportunities outside of main class – the random standardized testing (JPET, TTBJ), that gave me an idea of which JLPT level to aim for

I’m usually the type to learn quietly on my own, but things stuck better when I talked with students. Even embarrassing moments helped my improvement.

Having all the students start from the same level really helped me feel more comfortable with learning new material.
